Bea thought she had it all figured out.

The career. The marriage. The family. The plan.

Then, weeks before Christmas, her husband asks for a divorce, leaving Bea to wonder whether she ever built the life she truly wanted—or simply the one she thought she was supposed to.

Now the newest pediatrician at Charity Medical Center is crashing at her little brother’s ocean-view condo with her seven-year-old son, fielding her best friend’s very loud advice, and trying to remember who she was before she became half of a couple at seventeen.

Then there’s Theo: her husband’s estranged childhood best friend, a doctor finishing his residency at her hospital, and, as of this week, her brother’s new neighbor down the hall.

Starting over was never part of the plan.

Neither was he.

Meet the Characters

Let Me Explain...

I’ve said it umpteen times: I’m an overthinker. Which is a really cute personality trait until you realize it also means I’ve convinced myself I know exactly what’s coming because I’ve planned every possible outcome in excruciating detail.

Life, of course, finds that adorable.

I wrote Plan Bea because I wanted to make sense of what happens when life completely ignores your plans. When you’re still a mother, an employee, a friend, maybe someone whose heart is breaking, and somehow you’re still expected to show up like everything’s fine.

Sometimes you take the punch. Sometimes you bob and weave. Sometimes you ugly cry in the shower and call it self-care.

And because I’m a romance girlie, of course it had to be a love story. Otherwise it’s just… life.

I didn’t write Plan Bea because I had the answers. I wrote it because I had the questions.
